How do I find a book?
Answer
While the process of searching for a book may vary slightly from library to library, most libraries use the Library of Congress Classification System to organize its books and most, if not all libraries, use an electronic system to catalogue books online; the Franklin Library falls in line with these standards.
To locate a book, first search the Franklin library's online catalogue at: https://fisk.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/discovery/search?vid=01FIU_INST:FISK
Once you have identified a book, use the call number to find the book. A call number is like an address: it tells you where the book is located in the library. Call numbers appear on the spines of books and journals and in the library's catalog. Note that the same call number can be written from top-to-bottom or left-to-right. If you cannot find your book, then ask a librarian or librarian assistant at the main desk in Access Services to look for you. You can also request an interlibrary loan if the book is missing, or if the library doesn't own a copy.
